- Through education: learn! Read a new book about racism, follow social media pages about anti-racism and social justice movements, watch some videos. Talk about these things with other people.
- Through action: do something, buy from Black businesses, join local anti-racism groups and start listening and commenting.
- Through politics: votes matter, voices matter, meetings matter. You can get involved with your local government by attending the meetings open to the public. Listen to marginalised groups and look for areas to work.
- Through work: what could your workplace do better? If you see a problem faced by marginalised groups in the workplace, begin to challenge it. Look to then instigate programmes or charters to help.
Who are marginalised groups?
Marginalised groups are forced to the periphery of the dominant social groups. It means socially, politically and economically, their needs may not be considered, or actively worked against, in decision making spaces.
What does LGBTQAI stand for?
LGBTQIA refer to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, and asexual or allied.

The origins of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter is in America, in 2013. Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi began the movement in response to the shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman and Zimmerman’s acquittal of the murder.
Black Lives Matter and BLM are not separate entities. Black Lives Matter is a decentralised social movement, this means its not: a political party, a marxist party, a group with one singular leader and one form of organisation, one officially recognised group.

BLM Sandbach was constituted as Cheshire Voices for Equality on the 17th October 2020. Cheshire Voices for Equality. Under the lens of Cheshire Voices, we hope to be able to reach more people within the community across Cheshire.

Is Cheshire Voices for Equality Association a political organisation?
Cheshire Voices for Equality Association and BLM Sandbach does not affiliate itself with any political party. Racism and injustice against marginalised groups is part of the fabric of the country we live in. This includes every institution and system including political, social, economic, educational and much more. BLM aims to combat racism in many ways and this can include in the political sphere, as well as many others.
Cheshire Voices for Equality Association is an unincorporated association, unaffiliated with a political party.
What does it mean for Cheshire Voices for Equality to be constituted?
Cheshire Voices for Equality Association was constituted in order to work in a more official capacity in the community and across Cheshire. To be constituted officially means that we can work with other organisations and gather funding from various bodies to help the community and to work on ending rural racism.
